Things I was taught to never do as a writer.

Growing up as a writer I was taught to never end a sentence with preposition. I can remember my mom always getting on to me for saying "Where is it at?" I know I could have just said Where is it, but for some reason the at always tagged along as an extra unneeded word. When I would say sentences like this often my mom would always make me do write offs practicing not ending my sentence in that way. I was also often taught not to begin a sentence with and, but, or because. For some reason I really enjoyed doing this to add emphasis or sometimes it actually made my papers sound more grammatically correct, like if a sentence where to long for example. To this day I can honestly say I do not struggle ending my sentences with a preposition, however, I will still start a sentence with and or because. Sometimes it is just better that way.
